NZX involvement increases
01-03-2010 | Not Specified
NZX has stepped up its involvement and sponsorship of the Agribusiness Conference, now in its eighth year.
This year's conference will be called the NZX Agribusiness Conference and is set for May 17-20 at the Bayview Wairakei Resort, just north of Taupo.
Organising committee chairman Bruce Wilton says the 2010 event will focus on delivering information, inspiration and a greater network of progressive-minded people, as well as presenting opportunities for future growth and success.
"This conference is a unique opportunity for business people to be involved in a forum with like-minded people, where they can learn and discuss how to grow their business, and be entertained by leading speakers," he says.
Wilton says he is delighted to have NZX taking the naming rights sponsorship role and contributing to the organising of this year's conference.
"NZX has made it clear that it believes in agriculture and advancing New Zealand. We're excited about having them on board for Taupo."
Wilton says farmers and agribusiness professionals will find this year's agenda highly appealing. Speakers have been confirmed to provide the latest on some of the key farming issues expected to have an impact on the sector in the next decade. These include water quality, carbon credit trading, farm ownership structures, and succession planning.
Wilton says the agenda will also includes some surprises like the inspirational story of the two Australians who kayaked across the Tasman in 2008.
"We'll be releasing more details of this year's speakers in the lead-up to the conference but rest assured this year's line-up is right up there with the best of the conferences so far."
The past three conferences have attracted an average of 300 people, including a good cross-section of dairy, sheep, beef and arable farmers. Wilton says an increasing number of people are now bringing staff members.
The Wairakei complex has a large accommodation section but those attending this year are urged to book early. Early booking of flights is also a sensible option.
